Potatoes Au Gratin
This easy to make Potato Au Gratin recipe will have your family wanting seconds!
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
Butter or use a non stick spray to grease the casserole dish
Slice potatoes 1/4 - 1/2 inch thick. Take half your potatoes and layer the bottom of the casserole dish, being sure to over lap potato slices
Slice or dice an onion (your preference), and layer on top of the potatoes
Add salt and pepper to taste
Layer remaining potato slices over onions
I prefer to salt and pepper the top layer of potatoes as well
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour and salt. Whisk until mixed thoroughly
Add milk and stir till thickened
Add cheese and stir until melted
Pour milk/cheese mixture over potatoes
Cover casserole dish a foil and cook in preheated oven for 1 hour
Remove foil and cook an additional 30 minutes, or until top starts to brown
